I had been meaning to catch a Flipturn show for quite some time. I had interviewed Dillon at the end of last year when I was visiting Fernandina Beach (the band's hometown), but at the time had not yet seen the band live. From then on, I had been itching to see them perform. Venturing my way back to Fort Lauderdale in April, I finally got the chance to attend and shoot one of their shows. It is truly inspiring watching a Florida band play in their home state. Walking around Revolution during their set, it was hard to weave around the massive crowd they had brought to the mid-sized venue. The energy matched the size of the crowd - you could tell that everyone attending was invested in the performance.
It was also a pleasure to catch The Hails again, after covering them in Miami last year. Another Florida-based band in the lineup only enhanced the experienced. I was happy to see how supportive the Florida indie bands are, lifting each other up in the Florida scene. Looking forward to seeing the growth of these two bands both in Florida and across the country!
